Clean surface thoroughly. Remove grease, oil, loose paint, rust, etc. Sand previously painted surfaces lightly, being sure to feather all rough edges. Clean with a high-grade cleaner that leaves no residue, such as VHT's Brake Cleaner (Product #SP-11). Allow to dry before applying coating. Shake can for one minute after marble is heard. Hold can upright 12 to 16 inches from surface during application. Apply each coat in a crosshatch pattern. For best results, apply thin, even coats in 20-minute intervals until desired coverage is achieved.
Curing:
VHT Engine Enamels will air dry in 15 to 30 minutes. Baking at 200° F for half an hour (a Bar-B-Que works great!) improves finish and provides a durable surface for solvent resistance. The inherent heat of operation may also accomplish curing. Until coating is cured, finish is not solvent resistant.
